Watching a dung beetle scrambling to gather food for his family and clan. In the hot afternoon sun he is tireless in maneuvering and rolling the growing ball toward his nest at the edge of the feed lot.
castle bellowing
Al W Gallia
the dung beetle about home
his ordeal ending
His trail winds across the sand and sage brush, around obstacles like rocks and rusty farm implements. But he never loses his way or appears tired, always pushing, pulling without a rest. A survival and work ethic we humans need to recapture!

I just love it, Al. And love beetles!

Marta, thanks for sharing your two cute beetle haiku. Those tough little creatures, millions of years old, will be around long after humans are gone. Not beautiful, but survivors!
